Getting More Real

God

When we bless our bodies, we acknowledge we are relational human beings.

To live. To experience.  To do things, like heal.

Something happens in our mind, body, soul, and relationships when we begin to live alive in our body —

How has it been for you over these months as we’ve looked at blessing our body?

Did you end up writing it a letter?

It’s been my experience that when I live alive in my body, blessing it, not cursing it, I see lots of other things differently.

As I recently mentioned, so much has changed for my body since the start of 2025.

Honestly, it’s been hard to process it all, much less than try to express it.  But, through writing, I’m finding a voice for my body.

Not only exploring how it has changed since January, but also starting to come to grips with my body’s limited capacity as I heal.  You see, one of my biggest hurdles is not just what I can’t do right now, like work out or do basic household chores, but it’s also the fact that my body needs a long, long time to heal.

We are talking months, not days.

And I’m someone who likes things instantaneous. I don’t want to wait too long or have to make too many adjustments to my daily life.

But my body needs me to slow down. I need to allow my body all the time it needs to heal. And I need to be okay with this.

This is where blessing my physical body and living with it gets real.

When we bless our bodies, we acknowledge we are relational human beings.

God created us to experience Him. Ourselves.  And others.

To live.  To experience.  To do things, like heal.  Taste.  Feel.  Analyze.  Laugh.  Cry.  Discover.

Despite the way we are often treated at work or from others, we are not machines.  To be fixed.  To produce.  To consume.

These differences have tremendous meaning for all of us.

To be a human being means we aren’t defined by our production or consumption, no matter what our culture, our boss, or others may say.  Or the box they put us in.

Instead, as human beings, we live with a sense of who we are as God’s loving, desired human creation.

Alive!

Relationally with Him.

Others.

And ourselves.
