Living Alive: A Body Blessing
Can you imagine receiving your physical body as a gift from God?
We get to make a choice.
As I’ve been re-reading my journal from 2020-21, I came across something I wrote down.
A perspective.
Peppered in truth.
About our physical bodies.
As I’ve been re-reading it. I want to share it with you.
Saying again, God did not create us with a physical body so that we would hate it, curse it, feeling imprisoned by it, or trapped in it. This negative way of relating to our body not only affects the way we view and treat it, but it also ripples outward, in the way we view and treat others.
The truth is, our physical body reflects God’s creativity.
His artistry.
He says each and every one of us is “very good” (Gen 1:28). In our physical bodies.
He wants us to live alive, fully alive, in it!
So, here’s an idea.
A place to start.
It’s a blessing to pronounce over ourselves.
To start, can you imagine receiving your physical body as a gift from God?
We get to make a choice.
Then perhaps say something like this,
I bless you physical body with the Life of God.
His full Life and healing.
I love you.
I receive you; a gift to me from God.
Thank you for being my body.
Sorry that I haven’t always said nice things to you or about you. Or acted with kindness toward you.
But I do love you.
Today, I receive you in fullness of life. God’s Alive Life!
As the physical body I have.
