Seeing Rightly

I think so much of our division and disunity as men and women stems from a warped view.

We’re not convinced God thinks we’re very good or that He takes pleasure in us.

As I look again at the prophetic encouragement I shared last week, the word that pops out to me is “united.”  The woman and the man united.

Not divided.

Not with a sword between them.

Not at war.

Not grating on each other.

Not competing.

But united.

Unified.

In healing.

With an understanding of who we are as men and women.  Ones who are uniquely and preciously created by God.

Women and men He calls, “very good” (Genesis 1:31).

Psalm 104:31 says, “The LORD takes pleasure in all He has made!” (NLT).

I think so much of our division and disunity as men and women stems from a warped view.  A lack of knowing and believing who we are.  We’re not convinced God thinks we’re very good or that He takes pleasure in us.

So, we turn and look at each other and relate to one another in the same distorted way we look at and relate to ourselves.  Oftentimes with a low-grade, almost imperceptible loathing and suspicion.  We’re disappointed by our lack of perfection.  We have a general sense that it’s okay to misuse and mistreat others for our own end.

Look at this photo my husband recently took in a gift shop.

What does it say about the relationship between men and women?
